I was born in a very small island city in Brazil and my first real contact
with art happened in my science and biology lessons at school. As I was
already a skillful drawer and I was also very interested in this area, my
science teacher eventually invited me to help him during laboratory practice.
So I would help him dissect small animals and also draw their anatomy. My
teacher then showed me the works of Leonardo da Vinci and that was when for
the first time I understood drawing as an art manifestation.
When I was 17 years old I moved to a bigger city, Porto Alegre in Rio Grande
do Sul, looking for more qualification while I started an architecture course.
In 1989 I did my first research trip to Europe to study traveler artists, a
subject which already interested me at that time. As time went by my career as
a painter consolidated and I kept developing my technique by combining drawing
and acrylic painting. In 1999 I went to the Amazon Forest and performed an
in-depth study of the fauna and flora in that region.
